Test Evolution Ltd

Test Evolution Ltd’s primary activity is the design, manufacture and installation of custom test equipment, monitoring and design solutions for a multitude of differing industries.  Over the years this has ranged from pcb level designs through to large multi-cabinet systems.  Our equipment has been installed and used across Europe, North America and the Far East.

In recent years we have seen more emphasis on the development of production test systems, such as burn in / life test and end of line test equipment, primarily for the optoelectronics industry.  Some of these systems consist of ‘off the shelf’ instrumentation, typically integrated into a cabinet and driven by software written for the application.  Other systems have been developed from the bottom up and consist almost entirely of electronics, software and mechanics designed specifically for their purpose.  The design approach taken has depends on several factors such as size, performance, cost, delivery timescale and also customer preference.  The approach used is discussed in detail with the customer prior to quotation and is accompanied with a preliminary specification if necessary.  Often there is a perception that using ‘off the shelf’ instrumentation is the safer route, possibly from a timescale, cost or reliability route.  We have found that we can often develop ‘custom’ systems which cost less, take less space and perform better than an instrumentation equivalent, because the equipment is specifically designed for its purpose.  As for reliability we still have systems in use which were installed over 10 years ago and have been in constant use ever since.

If you already have a system which has been developed in house or elsewhere and are looking for someone to manufacture a repeat unit, or re-work an existing system, we would be pleased to help.

One of the aspects of our business which we take particular pride in is the level of after sales support we provide.  We believe that this is essential for a long lasting and strong customer relationship.  Quite aside from any warranty agreed on equipment supplied we have been known to support equipment for many years after delivery in the form of telephone support or minor repairs.

All our equipment, systems or designs are supplied with full documentation including electrical safety checks and calibration certificates where applicable.

If you have a requirement for  test equipment, monitoring system or design and want a solution please call +44 (0)1969 625456 or email sales@testevolution.co.uk to discuss your application.  We will be pleased to provide initial consultation in complete confidence, free of charge and without obligation.

The links below give a summary of some of the systems and projects we have been responsible for.  This is by no means a definitive list but is intended to give an indication of the diversity we are capable of.

A well known brand TV manufacturer required a small, easy to use, highly stable video signal source to align and test their televisions on the production line.  The unit designed for them generated two test card screens and multiple simple test patterns (i.e. colour bars, chequer patterns, etc), and could be switched between conventional video standards and various high definition formats.

The pattern generator contained a video encoder and high speed memory, controlled by a programmable gate array design and microprocessor on a multilayer pcb.  This was designed and a small number of units manufactured in an eight week timescale.  The cost of this project was less than the price of commercially available equipment offering the same functionality identified by the customer.
